Department Overview

The Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) program is a premier undergraduate course in our college, designed to provide students with a profound understanding of the natural laws and biological systems that govern our world. The program aims to cultivate a scientific temperament, analytical thinking, and experimental skills essential for a successful career in research, industry, and academia.

Our college offers two specialized streams to cater to diverse scientific interests: the Physics-Chemistry-Mathematics (PCM) combination and the Chemistry-Botany-Zoology (CBZ) combination. The PCM stream focuses on the fundamental principles of matter, energy, and advanced mathematical modeling, while the CBZ stream explores the intricate world of chemical reactions, plant biology, and animal life sciences. The comprehensive syllabus includes rigorous theoretical study and extensive laboratory work, ensuring students gain a deep mastery of their chosen subjects.

The B.Sc. department maintains state-of-the-art laboratories where students conduct practical experiments to validate theoretical concepts. We regularly organize science exhibitions, field visits to research institutes, botanical excursions, and seminars led by eminent scientists to bridge the gap between academic learning and scientific discovery. Students are also encouraged to engage in minor research projects and internships to enhance their technical proficiency.

Graduates of the B.Sc. program have a wide array of career opportunities in laboratories, pharmaceuticals, environmental agencies, forest services, and the manufacturing industry. Many of our students choose to pursue higher education such as M.Sc., B.Ed., or Ph.D., or prepare for competitive examinations like UPSC, SSC, and various banking or defense services.
