Department Overview

The Bachelor of Arts (BA) program is a versatile and intellectually stimulating undergraduate course in our college, designed to provide students with a deep understanding of human society, culture, and governance. The program aims to foster critical thinking, effective communication, and a comprehensive perspective on social, political, and economic issues that are essential for shaping informed citizens and future leaders.

Our college offers four distinct and well-structured combinations to cater to the diverse academic interests of our students: HEP (History-Economics-Political Science), HEK (History-Economics-Kannada), HES (History-Economics-Sociology), and HEE (History-Economics-English). These streams offer a blend of historical context, economic theory, and social analysis, allowing students to explore the complexities of human civilization, administrative structures, and linguistic heritage. The curriculum is designed to balance traditional knowledge with contemporary social relevance.

The BA department regularly organizes parliamentary debates, social surveys, heritage walks, and guest lectures by academicians and civil servants to bridge the gap between textbook theories and societal realities. Students are encouraged to participate in literary fests, paper presentations, and community outreach programs to build confidence and empathy, while developing a nuanced understanding of the world around them.

Graduates of the BA program are well-equipped for diverse career paths in civil services, journalism, law, social work, teaching, and human resources. Many of our students also pursue higher education such as M.A. in their respective specializations, B.Ed., or MBA, while others successfully clear competitive examinations like UPSC, KPSC, and various banking and administrative services.
